Summary
The HRI-485x series comprises a Data Transfer Unit (DTU) device that facilitates wireless data transmission by converting the RS-485 bus. HRI-4851 enable RS-485 data to be transmitted via LoRa, on the other hand, HRI-4852 connects the data of HRI-4851 to the server via LTE or ETH. This highly dependable DTU device is suitable for deployment in industrial settings and can be mounted directly on rack rails, thus enabling IoT evolution for previous devices. Additionally, the series features an effortless configuration function that allows for the direct management and configuration of options and parameters within the Local Area Network (LAN).
NOTE
HRI-4852 cannot be used standalone, it only serves as a network access tool for HRI-4851.

Variance
HRI-4851‘s primary function is to convert the RS485 bus to LoRa wireless signal. Usually works as a node device, P2P control and relayer.
- HRI-4851 supports P2P custom protocol, need work with other HRI-4851 or HRI-4852.
- HRI-485L supports LoRaWAN protocol, need work with a LoRaWAN gateway.
HRI-4852 is a LoRa custom P2P protocol gateway, it transfer LoRa signals from other devices to the cloud server through LTE or Ethernet.
- HRI-4852’s header pins are only used for power supply, it can’t communicate with a RS584 devices.
- HRI-485L is NOT a LoRaWAN gateway, it’s running LoRa custom P2P protocol, only work with HRI-4851 or other Heltec P2P protocol devices.

FAQ
All HRI-485X series can upgrade firmware via OTA.
No, the WiFi function only used for OTA upgrade.
No. It is usually only used as a tool for HRI-4851 to enter the network.
You can set 10 commands. When multiple commands are set, they are automatically sent 5 seconds apart.
It depends on how long and how often your node goes up and down in a single trip. The shorter the uplink time and the longer the interval, the more devices you can access. For example, if the uplinks and downlinks take 4 seconds at a time and the send cycle is 60 seconds, you can access up to 60/4=15 units. Of course, this is the ideal situation.
